Recently, I wrote a post titled Packing Tips for Moving. Of course, before you move, you'll want to go through all your belongings and dispose of those items that you really no longer need. The less you have, the less it will cost to move. Most of the time, you can throw out or donate what you don't need. But what SHOULDN'T you throw out?

Hazardous materials such as lead and mercury can be found in a variety of electronics. If your state hasn't already banned them being thrown away, you should still consider safely disposing of them to prevent future problems.

Ths biggest question I usually see is: "Where do I dispose of my electronics?" Well, New Hanover County now has a new recycling program and, if you live elsewhere, your county may too. Residents can dispose of electronics free of charge every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Hanover County landfill located at 5210 U.S. 421 North. This recycling program is sponsored by the New Hanover County Department of Environmental Management.
