Wilmington and Burgaw Area Real Estate News

In cased you missed it, we had record rainfall here in Southeast North Carolina in the past week. This was a bit of shock for all of us here. Last week, we were experiencing an ugly drought. Monday, we started seeing flooding, which has continued into today in certain parts of New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick Counties. According to Gareth McGrath at StarNews Online:

"By late Thursday, the Wilmington International Airport had recorded 22.54 inches of rain since Sunday, breaking the city's three-, four- and five-day rainfall records."

Public schools were closed and many roads were blocked-off due to flooding. People near Shallotte reported seeing 3-4ft of water in the roadway. The water has drained quickly, but residents near the ocean, rivers, and creeks are still dealing with frustrating levels.

Read more about the rain and see pictures of the aftermath here.

Luckily, the rain has retreated just in time for Riverfest. So, if you are looking for something to do this weekend, why not head to Downtown Wilmington and take in the festivities?
