Atkinson Town HallIf you own or are planning to buy a home in Atkinson, NC, it's important thatyou know the Town of Atkinson is planning on constructing a new water system that is due to be complete by Summer 2012. This is great, because a town water system will greatly improve water quality and reduce any threats that may have existed to the health of current residents. However, you should know that homeowners are required to pay the mandatory connection fee. It's never fun to get hit with an unexpected bill, so I thought I would give you some information about this project.

Here's the rundown. Construction of the water system is projected to occur through May 2012. The hookup fee is $400 BEFORE construction is completed. Sixty days AFTER completion, the hookup fee will rise to $1200. That's a big difference, one you will probably want to avoid by planning ahead. Town Hall told me today that they will take payments in increments of $100. To see if you will be affected by the water system and/or to arrange payments, call the Atkinson Town Hall at 283-7341.
